Serving Opportunities

 

You're never more like Jesus than when you serve or when you give. We hope that every person who calls Ironwood home will commit to serving in some capacity. Below are serving opportunities that exist on Sundays or throughout the week.

 
  • Room Leader: Know, love, and center kids in our classroom environments.

    Sub: 1-2 times per month commitment allowing weekly volunteers to have space to rest.

    Student Volunteer: Must be 12 years old to serve. Role includes assisting the Room Leader in various ways and creating relationships with kids in the room.

    Kids Check-in Team: Be the first point of contact for families – greeting and assisting as they check their kids into service. Commitment: 1 hour/Sunday

    Special Needs Buddy: Be matched 1:1 with a child who benefits from extra support within our regular Sunday classrooms. Training is provided. Commitment: Weekly with the same child and service time.

  • Student Mentor: Know, love, and center each student God brings into your small group. Commitment: 7 years (6th - 12th grade) | Wednesdays evenings, monthly dinners, camps & events.

    Mentor Dinner Team: Love and serve our Student Mentors by being involved in the purchasing, preparing, and serving meals. Commitment: First Wednesday of the month during the school year.

    Crew Dad: Help with the setup, execution, and tear down of events/camps as well as provide a steady presence for students. Commitment: Winter Camp, Fuse, various school year parties. Each event's time commitment varies.

    5th Grade Ministry: Know, love, and center 5th graders, as well as provide a steady presence in their classroom. Commitment: Every Sunday during the school year at the 10:45 service.

  • Community Events: Join our team to help plan, prepare, + execute community events by creating a warm and welcoming environment. Commitment: 6 months involvement (A great place to serve as a family!)

    Parent Coaches: Serve and support families at Gateway through encouragement and biblical wisdom. Commitment: 2 mentorship meetings with parents over 6 weeks.

    Family Ministry Support: Work behind the scenes to create hospitable environments within Family Ministry events/classes. Commitment: Flexible and varies according to the schedule of events.

    Women’s Ministry Events: Join our team to help plan + execute events for the women at Gateway.

  • Local CGM Communication: Stay in the loop regarding upcoming M25 collections, Boxes of Hope, and other Community & Global Ministry news.

    M25 Volunteer: M25 collections are on the 2nd Sunday of each month and we need volunteers to help receive + organize donations. Additionally, we need volunteers to help load and deliver the donations the following Tuesday.

    Juarez Mission Trips: We typically take two trips to Juarez each year, spring + fall. We partner with Mission Ministries to build homes for families in the community.

    Pray for Turkey: Serve our global partners through prayer. We meet every first Sunday of the month to learn about current prayer needs and to pray together as a group.

  • Small Group Leader: Lead a Small Group by helping create environments that foster relational connection and spiritual growth.

    Commitment: 90-day trial phase for group, then 1-year commitments as desired. Covenant membership is required.

  • Sunday Prayer Team: Pray for those who seek encouragement and prayer following the Sunday services. There are additional opportunities to pray for the pastors & congregation during the services. Commitment: serve 1-2x/month.

    Meals Team: Bless those in our church and community who are experiencing a major life event.

    Bereavement Team: Minister to the grieving in our church community through planning and coordination of, and/or on-site hospitality for funeral services.

  • Greeters: Help create a welcoming environment on Sundays by greeting and assisting guests.

    Communion Prep Team: Help prepare the weekly communion elements (on Saturday mornings).

    Coffee Team: Help create a hospitable lobby experience by preparing and serving coffee on Sundays.

  • Trellis: Work behind the scenes to create hospitable environments at Gateway. Commitment: Flexible and varies according to the schedule of events.

    Paid Childcare Team: Bless families of our church by providing childcare for their children during our weekly classes or special events. Commitment: Flexible & varies according to schedule. Most opportunities to work are on weekday mornings & evenings. $15/hour. Adults 18yrs+ only please.

    Maintenance Volunteer: There are general maintenance needs like painting, landscaping, and cleaning that would be fun to do as a team. If you are a handyman and/or like to get your hands dirty we would love to serve with you. Commitment: Flexible & varies based on availability

    Facilities Volunteer: The Box setup + teardown: Set up chairs for special events as needed. Teardown after the second and third services, stack and move necessary chairs to prepare for mid-week events.

  • Worship Band Volunteer: Apply your skill with excellence as we put our passion for God on display across ministries church-wide. Positions needed: Vocals/Keys/Electric Guitar/Bass/Drums. Commitment: 6-20 hrs/week, including personal practice, midweek rehearsal, and Sunday services.

    Breakfast Team Volunteer: Help support our Sunday team by providing a nutritious breakfast! Homemade or pre-packaged food is both appreciated. Commitment: provide a meal once a month on Sundays.

    Production Tech Volunteer: Looking for video directors, camera operators, visual operators, & audio engineers. We strive to make the operation of our equipment user-friendly. No experience is needed & on-the-job training is available. Commitment: varies based on availability
